In February of 2012, Paul and I had to have our beloved 15-year-old golden retriever euthanized after her long battle with cancer. Stricken with grief, we thought we’d have to wait a long time before adopting another golden. However, I am chronically ill and benefit greatly from a companion dog, so we decided not to wait. Through sheer serendipity and good fortune we found Scott's 24k Goldens, show dog breeders who have one or two litters per year available for adoption. They just happened to have a 3-1/2-year-old golden available whom they described as "too sweet to be a show dog." Joanne emailed us photos of Lexy and for both Paul and me it was love at first sight. We are so grateful that after screening us carefully, Joanne and Steve accepted us as Lexy's new family.

Lexy is an amazing being. While bred as a show dog and not a “pet” dog, she is the most affectionate and cuddliest animal I've ever known. She has the gentlest temperament, is highly intelligent and has the softest, thickest and most luxuriant coat. I have always had goldens and each one been wonderful, but Lexy is unique in so many ways. She is a perfect example of the breed in the purest sense - strikingly beautiful and a true beam of love and light. We are besotted with her and it seems that the feeling is mutual.

Once we made the decision to get a Golden puppy, we began researching breeders with a good reputation for breeding healthy, happy puppies. We didn’t want our puppy to come from any inhumane “puppy mill”!! After months of looking and waiting, we were finally led to Joanne and Steve by a breeder from the San Diego County Golden Retriever Society. I was touched by Joanne’s story on her website, and my husband contacted her. We both spoke with Joanne several times by phone and she invited us to come up (we live in North San Diego County) to meet she and Steve, along with Teaser and Rocky, and their puppies, when the puppies were a few weeks old. Joanne and Steve are refreshingly down to earth and we felt very welcome and comfortable in their lovely home with their beautiful Goldens.

We’ve never had a Golden before, and had never been through a process like this where we actually got to go meet the breeder and family, but I can’t imagine anyone having a better experience than we had with the Scott’s. Those dogs and puppies were so loved and nurtured - it made the 12 hour drive and overnight stay very worth it to see the kind of home our new puppy was coming from. When we went back up for puppy pick-up day, we were equally impressed! Joanne was very organized and spent a lot of time presenting her puppy notebook and answering all the questions the new puppy owners had. She and Steve got choked up every time they talked about the puppies leaving. That speaks volumes to the kind of loving home these dogs came from!

Our beautiful girl, Maisie, is the sweetest and most beautiful dog we’ve ever had - she is a ray of sunshine! We get raves on her when we take her out - people stop us on the street to compliment us on what a beautiful dog she is, and what a great temperament she has. On a recent visit to the Vet, one of the doctors in the office told me that she is the most perfect, sweetest Golden Retriever puppy she’s ever met. I just can’t really express enough about how bright this dog is and what a desire to please she has…..she has brought so much joy to our entire family. Joanne and Steve sure bred a winner with Maisie!

Joanne has been so supportive since we brought Maisie home - we stay in touch and she is always available to answer my questions. We are looking forward to many happy years with the newest member of our family.

Moriah...Our new puppy from 24k Goldens is truly a blessing. We lost Angel our 2nd Golden at 12. She was a very special girl not only to us but to everyone that knew her. Angel was a therapy dog at a local hospital when she was in her prime. I would simply follow her from room to room and floor to floor and she always led me to the cancer center where she wanted to spend most of her time making people smile and just giving that Golden love. Cancer took her life on October 18, 2010 and we think about her every minute of every day. I didn't think we were ready for another puppy but in a roundabout way we were referred to the 24kgoldens web site by a client and now we cant thank him enough.

After reading the information on the web site and seeing all of the beautiful dogs you could just feel that Joanne and Steve were true animal lovers. So I called Joanne for the first time and my feelings were right on. I shared my loss and asked her when the next litter would be available. Well as fate has it the puppies were due to be born on my God child's Birthday and would be ready to be picked up on my Birthday...Perfect! We drove up just a few days later and met Joanne, Steve, and the whole Golden crew. Then there was Jenny a sweet golden that just wanted to love on us. These 24k Goldens are like no other and truly unique in my eyes, I couldn't give Joanne a deposit fast enough. That day was true therapy for us..........As for our new puppy..

I got my puppy from 24k Goldens and can't believe how gorgeous, perfect and amazing my puppy is in every way. From his personality to his demeanor to his face, my puppy, Moses is truly an answer to prayer.

I was looking for a reputable breeder for a while and could not find anyone that paid as much attention to detail and followed up with me timely like Joanne and 24k Goldens. Our top priority before getting our puppy, Jack, was getting a healthy, well-bred golden. We researched breeders for months before calling Steve and Joanne about their dogs. They were several hours away from our home in San Diego, but once I talked to Joanne we knew they were the right breeder for us. We went to their house to meet Steve, Joanne, Jenny (Jack's dam) and the rest of their dogs. They were great and embody what a true "hobby breeder" should be. They show their dogs in conformation, maintain all the necessary health clearances (hips, heart, eye, elbow) and will take a puppy back for any reason at any time. They breed for health, structure and temperament - the most important things about a well-bred golden retriever.

Jack is our first show dog and we ended up with a sweet and gorgeous boy with a great pedigree. He is a snuggly boy with a fantastic temperament, and has been a great addition to our family. Joanne has been great in referring us to other breeders/owners who are active in showing their dogs, referred us to a great handler, and just generally has helped whenever we need advice. We're just starting showing Jack and we couldn't be more excited about it! We are very happy with our decision to get a puppy from Scotts 24k Goldens and would recommend them very highly to those looking to add a bundle of gold to their lives!

We’ve finally gotten around to taking a family photo and writing a testimonial. Here you go!

We have been so happy with our 24k puppy, Bentley! He has brought us so much joy and happiness which was so needed because our decision to pick a puppy from this litter was difficult. We lost our golden, Bailey, only a few months before we got Bentley. Joanne spoke with our family on several occasions and also invited us down shortly after the puppies were born to educate us about her breeding philosophy and her line of Goldens. Picking Bentley was an emotional process for us and Joanne helped us to pick the perfect companion for our family – we love his personality and the day we chose him we really felt that he chose us. Joanne encouraged us not to get set on one single pup, but to allow the process to take a natural course, and it did. As much as we wanted him, he really chose us that day, showering us with attention and showing off for us. Our vet tells us that Bentley is super healthy, and judging by his lively personality he’s a very happy guy. Joanne provided us with a comprehensive binder full of great information about training and what to expect from our puppy, along with vaccination documents and little toys to take home. Joanne’s dogs are beautiful, healthy, and happy. If we ever want another golden we are certainly going to come to Joanne again!!

I started looking for new dog after Murphy passed on, and found the website for 24K Goldens. After I looked at the pictures of previous litters, I was hooked. I spoke with several people more knowledgeable than mabout the kennels, and sent a check without ever seeing the dogs. Joanne was very knowledgeable, helpful, and informative. Very patient with all of my dumb questions, and even brought the dog to the airport when we went to pick him up (our rental car was no where to be found) . As we went through puppy hood & adolescence, Joanne was always there with helpful advice when anything came up.

When we go to the neighborhood dog park, people rave about his looks & his coat. He's just that striking-looking. I walk Bob & Brailey (our other dog, a beautiful black we-don't-know-what we rescued from a shelter) two to three miles every day, and have literally had people stop, pull over to and ask me where I got Bob. And I am always happy to tell them and recommend Joanne & 24K Goldens. I can't tell you how much I want another, but know that three dogs is probably one over my limit.

I lost my 1st Golden, Brandy, due to age and decided to take a doggie vacation. However, after about 3 months we missed the loving companionship a dog provides. Well what can I say other than WOW! I have grown up and had Golden's my whole life. And although I loved each one with all my heart I have never had one like Mateo. He is by far the best bred golden out there. Everyone thinks their dog is the best but with Mateo everyone else sees it. He is complimented by everyone who sees him, and people who know Golden's are blown away. But that is only the beginning, his beauty is not fur deep. The temperament and intelligence far surpasses any dog I have ever seen. He is energetic when I want him to play and calm and peaceful when its time to relax. He loves children more than anything and doesn't have a bad bone in his body.

I have to say that buying a Golden from Joanne & Steve Scott has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am fully confident that he will live a long healthy life spreading love and joy everywhere he goes.
